Stepped Pyramid of Saqqara : oldest pyramid in Egypt

I flew into Cairo from the North East: from Alexendria, I crossed over to Port Said, followed the Suez Canal, and then cut into the Nile Delta, curving into Cairo from the South. When you do this, you come across the stepped pyramid of Saqqara , as seen here. This Pyramid is the oldest in Egypt- with as much mystics as the ones at Giza, but unfortunately this isnt as famous. Made nearly 5000 years ago ( 2670 BC) by the Pharoah Djoser. The pyramid is 204 feet tall. This pyramid set the precedent on how to make the smooth sided pyramids that we usually associate Egypt with. It was the knowledge gained by Imhotep while making this stepped one that was refined to make the smooth edge ones much later \.
